The Street Lit Book Award Medal (SLBAM) Committee has announced this year's winners.
The adult nonfiction winner is Letters to An Incarcerated Brother by Hill Harper.
The other nonfiction honorees were Soul Train: The Music, Dance and Style of a Generation by Quest Love, Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou and Undisputed Truth by Mike Tyson and Larry Sloman.
The adult fiction winner is Honor Thy Thug by Wahida Clark, who also won a special Author of the Year award, recognizing "an author or writing team whose publications were particularly well-received by the reading public during the nomination year."
The other fiction honorees were The Prada Plan 3: Green-Eyed Monster by Ashley and JaQuavis, Murderville 3: The Black Dahlia by Ashley and JaQuavis and Fly Betty by Treasure Blue. The Murderville Trilogy by Ashley and Jaquavis took a special award for "Emerging Classic," a category recognizing "a street lit-plotted or -themed book that was published during or before the year of nomination but continues to be in popular demand by the reading public."
