Social justice advocate, Carol Heise, put her nursing and legal degrees to use with her research and advocacy for human rights. Locally, her work in Edgewater and Evanston helped to establish Illinois standards for nursing homes, group homes and individuals with mental health challenges. Internationally, her Chicago chapter of the Christian Urgent Action Network for Emergency Support (CUANES) created an action network to monitor human rights in the Philippines. [Unprocessed]
