The 30 Days of Biking Challenge

This April marks the fifth year of the 30 Days of Biking Challenge. Pledge to ride every day in the month of April, whether it be down the driveway and back or a full century (100 miles). This is the second year I've pledged and, as anyone living in Chicago knows, the weather in April can be a bit of a challenge at times. This would be so much easier in say... New Mexico. But being the hearty Midwesterners that we are, I know we can rise to this challenge.  After all, with the winter we just had, doesn't riding your bike everyday sound lovely?

To get you motivated to grease those chains, wipe off that banana seat and blow the dust of those handlebar tassels, check out these titles!

Where to Ride

Where to Bike is all you need to hit the trails in the Chicagoland area. It comes with maps, CTA and Metra stops near trails, and if needed, driving directions.

If joining 10,000 others to ride across the cornfields of Iowa is more your style then RAGBRAI will tell you all about "the world's largest, longest and oldest bicycle touring event."

Fixin' Her Up: Bicycle Maintenance

The Total Bike Maintenance Book will show you everything from fixing a flat to replacing your derailleur.

Heels on Wheels: So you can fix your flat without breaking a heel or a sweat!

Sometimes it takes a little zen when that chain comes off for the umpteenth time while you are riding to work. This book will help: Zinn & the Art of Road Bike Maintenance.
