Celebrate Women’s History Month with CPL

Celebrate Women's History Month this March with Chicago Public Library. We're exploring the theme of women in music through lectures, musical performances, workshops and more.

Our keynote Women's History Month event is A Tribute to Women in Jazz. This concert by Chicago native Joan Collaso and her jazz quartet will be held in conjunction with One Book, One Chicago on Thursday, March 8 at Woodson Regional Library.

Featured Events

  • Cultural Music Quilting Workshop: Construct scrappy blocks that celebrate your love of cultural music or a recording artist. For beginning and experienced quilters alike. Saturday, March 3 at North Austin Branch.
  • Family Concert Featuring the Folk Band Dziadonki: Dziadonki, the first and only all-women's Polish folk band, gives an energetic, fun-filled concert of Polish folk tunes for all ages. The band formed in honor of the legendary Dziadońce, a talented female Polish folk violinist. Saturday, March 24 at Archer Heights Branch.
  • Create a Musical Shaker Instrument: Sharon Hyson leads this workshop in which you'll use assorted mixed media art materials to embellish a rainstick/shaker/musical instrument. Tuesday, March 27 at Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch.
