Biographical Note

Patricia Hart began her theatrical career as a ballet dancer in St. Louis. In the summer of 1967 she appeared with the California Shakespeare Festival. Ms. Hart went on to study theatre and dance at the University of Denver and costume design at the Goodman Theatre.

From 1976-1983, Ms. Hart was the resident designer for Pary Production Company, a company she co-founded with her husband Larry Hart and Chicago actor and director Gary Houston. In 1981 she won a Joseph Jefferson citation award for excellence in costume design for Pary’s Josephine, the Mouse Singer.

Ms. Hart has designed costumes for the Chicago Theatre Strategy, Chateau Louise, Next Theatre and Victory Gardens, where her masks for the 1984 production of The Fifth Sun were nominated for a Jeff award. She has also worked extensively with Touchstone and the New Tuners Theatre, winning a Jeff citation for Nightingale. She also designs costumes for the Martha Lynda Dance Company and was a costumer for John McNaughton’s cult film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.
