El día de los niños/El día de los libros = Children's Day/Book Day, or Dìa for short, is a national movement to celebrate children and childhood! How do you Dìa? It's simple. All you have to do is read and share books from different countries and ethnicities. Celebrating Dìa is a year-round commitment to literacy that is recognized on April 30 each year.
Why Dìa? Books are one of the best ways to help children to understand their homes, communities and world. Children can gain a better understanding of themselves and others if the books they see reflect the diverse groups of people in the world around them. Children can learn to respect not only their own culture, but other groups they encounter.
