Older kids may enjoy these books that explore different issues, such as being a CODA (child of a Deaf adult). Myron Uhlberg's The Sound of Silence tells the story of growing up hearing with Deaf parents.
El Deafo is based on author Cece Bell's personal experience with hearing loss since childhood.
Show Me A Sign gives readers a glimpse of a deaf girl and her family living in Chilmark of Martha's Vineyard in the 1800s where everyone signed no matter whether they were deaf or hearing.
