520 Abstract ^aThe Nicholas A. Patricca Collection contains biographical information, play production documentation and scripts of works written by Patricca. The collection contains significant research material and script versions for The Radiance of a Thousand Suns, a play about Hiroshima that Patricca wrote with Anne V. McGravie, Dwight Okita, and David Zak, and which was produced at the Bailiwick Repertory in 1995. Additional scripts document Patricca's involvement as Playwright-in-Residence at Victory Gardens Theatre and Bailiwick Repertory.^
545 Note:Biogrph ^aNicholas A. Patricca has been writing for the theater since 1980, when his first play The Examen was produced at the Victory Gardens Theater in Chicago. Since that time, he has written, published and produced several full-length dramatic works, one-acts and dramatic monologues and poems, including An Uncertain Hour, The Fifth Sun, The Lemon Tree and Gardinia's 'n' Blum. Dr. Patricca is a founding member of the Chicago Alliance for Playwrights and an active member of the Dramatists Guild. He is also one of the artistic directors of Chicago New Plays, a collective dedicated to the development of playwrights working in Chicago theater. Patricca has been Playwright-in-Residence at several Chicago theaters and his international accomplishments include lecturing in Mexico and the Philippines.^

561 Provenance ^aThe Nicholas A. Patricca Collection is one of the founding archives of the Chicago Theater Collection. An initial donation of scripts was received by the library in 1987. Special Collections regularly receives transfers of scripts and production material.^
