Paintings by Susan Alforque Silvano at HWLC

In celebration Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, paintings from Susan Alforque Silvano’s collection will be exhibited from May 1 to June 30 at Harold Washington Library Center, 3rd floor.

Susan Alforque Silvano has had a good career as an accountant. But her talent for painting and strong desire to start a second career led her to join a watercolor class in 2008. She paints in vibrant, earthy colors with textures and patterns. Her paintings reflect the diary of her life. Before she paints, she knows in her mind’s eye how the picture will look, interpreting what she sees and feels. Silvano says:

my eyes are the camera lens and my hands develop my art.
