New Staff at Lozano Branch YOUmedia

The Lozano Branch YOUmedia has some new staff. This week we talked to Theresa to learn about where she's worked in the past and what she's excited about this summer!

Q. What are any previous roles you've had with CPL and/or YOUmedia?

A. I have been with the Chicago Public Library for five years, two as a CyberNavigator at Edgewater Branch and three at Harold Washington Library Center. I saw YOUmedia in its early stages and have worked with hundreds of teenagers. Like most YOUmedia staff, I had multiple roles including holding down the circulation desk, readers advisory and book displays, creating "messing around" projects that focused on graphic design and social activism. I also created YOUmedia's first peer led LGBTQA group, "Something Different" where students are able to gather around and create art and be peaceful activists through kind words and positive attitudes.

Q. What are you looking forward to doing in YOUmedia this summer?

A. I am very excited about CPL's summer theme Explore and Roar because I love animals very much. Expect YOUmedia to be transformed into a jungle very soon!!

Q. What are some of your favorite hobbies?

A. If you want to find me, I'm reading teen lit, bicycling, or making vegetarian food or telling someone they should be a vegetarian because meat is murder!

Thanks Theresa! We're happy you're here!
