The Hue: Stolen Migration of a South Side Colony by Marcellous Lovelace

Have you ever lived in a world where you are constantly harassed by the law just for walking down the street or the color of your skin? Imagine being disregarded in a society of high percentage payday loan stores, potato chip corner store diets and homelessness surrounded by a sea of abandoned buildings that could be used to develop and grow communities.

These issues facing people in impoverished communities on Chicago’s South Side are portrayed in colorful mixed media paintings by Marcellous Lovelace on exhibit through July 3 on the 8th floor of the Harold Washington Library Center. Their revolutionary message: "Don't settle for less, build and develop a better reality for yourself now!"
