International Games Day Is November 15 at Harold Washington Library Center

Help us celebrate for the first time International Games Day at the Library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 15 at Harold Washington Library Center. Libraries worldwide will have games and space designated to play board, video and role-playing games.

Joining us on the day will be experts from the game shops Cat and MouseChicagoland Games/Dice Dojo and Marbles. They'll bring their playable collection of board games and will teach newcomers how to play games in different genres. Allen Turner will be here to introduce new audiences to his successfully funded Kickstarter role-playing book Ehdrigohr.

We'll have games and open table space, and gaming librarians will give pop-up instruction on different types of games—and can join in a play session, too. If you'd like to reserve table space for your group to play a specific game, contact us at info@chipublib.org.

Following the celebration, the Maker Lab will offer a class on creating a personalized game piece. (Registration is required for the Maker Lab class.)

Get Ready for Games Day

In anticipation of the event, we're hosting a series of lunchtime game sessions in the Harold Washington Library Center Grand Lobby. One of our librarians will provide instruction on how to play a game, and then you'll have a chance to play it. Check our events calendar for details.

We'll also host a Trivia Night at 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 11.
