Home of the Curious: Parental Perfectionists

All of us who walk through the doors of Chicago Public Library have one thing in common—curiosity. Each visit brings a new opportunity for discovery.

Our Home of the Curious campaign features real Chicagoans and the unique ways they each use Library services and programs to ignite their curiosity—and we're hoping it inspires you to explore new ways to use your library.

Parental Perfectionists

Resources for Parental Perfectionists include titles you can check out, programs and events—all ways you can call the Library home if you're a parent or caregiver.

These are some recommended titles that help build parenting skills and offer insights into nurturing a child's mind:

How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk

The Whole-brain Child

All Joy and No Fun

Events and Programs

Beyond our collection, we've got plenty of ways to find the right parenting resource for you. Story times at a branch near you offer ways to engage children in early learning. Our Avalon Branch offers Mental Math, where a CPS teacher offers tips and tricks for parents or guardians to help kids with math. Still too confused for calculus? Well, we've got Homework Help for students in-person and online.

Wondering how to de-stress from a hectic week of carpools and homework? Become more zen with our community yoga classes at Manning Branch. Connect with other families at our Toman Branch Mom's Club. Or, learn more about researching your family's history at one of our genealogy events or with our many genealogy online resources.

We have so many ways for you to engage with your community, learn something new and discover something wonderful. To the curious, Welcome Home.
