August 26th will mark one year since the doors opened to the new Back of the Yards Branch . And what a year it’s been! Since opening, we have issued over 1,800 new library cards and replaced or renewed close to 3,400. We had over 500 children participate in the Summer Learning Challenge, collectively reading upwards of 150,000 minutes.
This summer we became a YOUmedia expansion site, bringing digital learning and making opportunities to teens. Computer help is available for adult job searchers and community partnerships have allowed us to offer free ESL and citizenship classes. Whew! A big thank you to all for making our first year so fun and successful!
