Great Expectations Exhibit Brings Characters to Life

Artist David Lee Csicsko brings to life Pip, Estella and the other characters of Great Expectations on the ground floor of Harold Washington Library Center.

The exhibit Great Expectations: Drawings by David Lee Csicsko runs through February 17 in Congress Corridor at Harold Washington Library Center.

Originally commissioned for an adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ novel by Strawdog Theatre in Chicago, Csicsko’s drawings were made during rehearsals. By drawing in near-darkness, with unforgiving materials, Csicsko embraced risk—and paid homage to his muse, the bold and forthright Pip.
