Chicago LEGO® Users Group to Visit Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch in August

You may have noticed the impressive LEGO® creations in our display cases at Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch. These were made by talented community members. You can make your own each Monday this summer during LEGO® at the Library.

And, get ready to see even more incredible creations at Bucktown-Wicker Park Branch when we welcome the Chicago Area LEGO® Users Group (ChiLUG) to the library!

ChiLUG will join our Build-O-Rama from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 27.

The group's mission is "to design, build and display diverse and unique LEGO creations and share our building techniques and ideas with the world." Many of the group's unique and impressive creations will be on display to inspire your own LEGO® creations.

John, a member of ChiLUG, told us more about this collective of creative builders. Founded in 2012, the group meets quarterly and displays creations almost monthly. While inspiration may be found in daily life, finding time to build can be tricky.

John, like other group members, is an adult and a busy father of sons. His recent inspiration for a snowcat came from a family skiing trip. He's also built a Blackhawks Zamboni for his eldest son, who is a Blackhawks fan.

He encourages new builders to find something that interests them and try building it—but if you don't like it, re-build it! He says, "building is an evolving process for most of us, so never get discouraged."
