The Eyre affair : a novel /
Fforde, Jasper.

The debut novel in the Thursday Next literary detective series will appeal to genre fiction lovers as well as lovers of classic literature. Can Thursday find the kidnapped Jane Eyre and return her to her novel before it's too late?

To say nothing of the dog, or, How we found the bishop's bird stump at last /
Willis, Connie.

Inspired by Three Men in a Boat: To Say Nothing of the Dog by Jerome K. Jerome, Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog is a hilarious, time-traveling, science fiction romp with Victorian sensibility, romance, a curious cat, and one really ugly bulldog.

The prestige /
Priest, Christopher, 1943-

Recently made into a major motion picture, The Prestige tells the tale of two competing magicians in Victorian London who go to great lengths to outdo one another. The story includes all the elements of the great Victorian sensational novels: seances, mad-scientists, family curses, mausoleums, and more.

Lamb : the Gospel according to Biff, Christ's childhood pal /
Moore, Christopher, 1957-

Ever wonder what Jesus' childhood was really like? Christopher Moore does his best to answer that question in a satirical, biblical, coming of age story as told by Christ's best friend, Biff.

American gods : a novel /
Gaiman, Neil.

One could argue that most Neil Gaiman novels can be considered "quirky fantasy," and this one is no exception. Gods from the Old World, brought to America with their immigrant believers, clash with their New World counterparts, and this causes all sorts of problems for the protagonist, Shadow Moon, who has been unwittingly recruited by the Norse God, Grimnir.

Messiah : a novel /
Codrescu, Andrei, 1946-

New Orleans P.I. Felicity Odille Le Jeune, joins forces with Andrea, an intensely sexual Bosnian war orphan (or possibly a Basque Jew) who has seduced a convent of nuns, a group of religious scholars, and the entire Israeli population. It is up to these two women to save the world from an evangelical preacher trying to bring about Armagedden as the year 2000 approaches in this decidedly oddball thriller.

The memoirs of Elizabeth Frankenstein /
Roszak, Theodore, 1933-

In this feminist retelling of Mary Shelley's classic horror novel Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein's wife Elizabeth tells her side of the famous story in a tale that involves alchemy and feminine magic versus masculine science.

Grendel /
Gardner, John, 1933-1982.

A retelling of the Beowolf epic from the viewpoint of the monster, Grendel, as he observes the foibles of the humans that surround him.

The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy /
Adams, Douglas, 1952-

DON'T PANIC! These two words are the premise behind Douglas Adam's 1979 classic sci-fi novel, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So hop on board and join Earthling Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect, a field correspondant for the Guide, as they travel the universe searching for the Question that will fit the Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything.

Geek love /
Dunn, Katherine, 1945-

In an attempt to create their own freak show, carnival owners Art and Lily decide to breed their own freaks by taking experimental drugs to genetically alter their children. Hence, readers will be introduced to Arturo the Aqua Boy, Siamese Twins Electra and Iphigenia, Olympia, a bald, albino dwarf who serves as narrator of the story, and Fortunato, who seems normal but isn't.

The stolen child /
Donohue, Keith.

When he was seven, Henry Day was kidnapped by changelings, or hobgoblins, one of whom replaced him in his human life, fooling his friends and family into thinking he is the real Henry Day. In the meantime, kidnapped Henry becomes a changeling awaiting his chance to return to the human world in which he was born.

Winkie /
Chase, Clifford.

Imagine your favorite teddy bear coming to life and somehow ending up on trial as a terrorist in America's War on Terror. Seems a tad farfetched, but that's exactly what happens in Clifford Chase's Winkie. You may not look at that teddy bear the same way ever again.
