Review:

This book is an easy, fast paced read about a girl and her family's struggles to cope with the laws that were put in place during the Holocaust. The main character, Annemarie has to put up with brutal humiliation from the Nazis. To save her Jewish friend, Ellen, she takes her in as part of her family, and pretends that she is her sister. This historical fiction novel takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark during the beginning of the Holocaust. I personally enjoyed this book. As I said, it was a fast and easy read, and I finished it in one day!! It is pretty explanatory about how the Jews had to risk their lives and everything that they owned during this horrible time in history. If you are looking for a quick book on the Holocaust, I would highly recommend reading
Number the Stars by Lois Lowry.
