ScienceConnections: Hands-On, Minds-On Exploration for Children

ScienceConnections Logo

This unique project of the Chicago Public Library brings materials and programs about science and nature to children. Made possible with generous support from People’s Energy through the Chicago Public Library Foundation, this project is a celebration of science, nature and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills necessary for the success of 21st century children.

Book Collections

Each of the Chicago Public Library’s more than 70 branches, regional libraries and the Thomas Hughes Children’s Library has specialized collections of books and materials for hands-on exploration. These include such objects as giant ostrich eggs and make-it-yourself ukulele kits. Through ScienceConnections, a child may find a book on dinosaurs or robotics, falcons or circuit boards. Science is all around us, and with ScienceConnections we encourage children to explore and discover.
