The Art of Play: Wire Sculpture

Come learn about Alexander Calder, a Reading is Art-RAGEOUS featured artist. Famous for his playful mobiles and large scale sculptures, Calder started out fiddling with wire as a child. Art teacher Christine Thornton will read Tanya Lee Stone’s award winning picture book Sandy’s Circus, and then kids will make their own wire sculptures and drawings inspired by Calder.

Audience: Children 7 and up
Audience limit: 25, Registration required at the branch library
