A Visit with the Author of Chicago History for Kids
Abraham Lincoln never lived in Chicago, but the city still played an important role in his political career. For one thing, if the Republican Convention of 1860 had been held anywhere else, Lincoln probably would not have been nominated to run for president. Imagine how different our history would be had someone else become the 16th President of the United States. The City of Chicago was also an important factor in the North’s victory over the South in the Civil War. Owen Hurd, author of Chicago History for Kids will discuss these and other connections between Abraham Lincoln and the City of Chicago.
