Kraft Great Kids

Kraft Foods Foundation logoThe Kraft Great Kids initiative, generously sponsored by Kraft Foods, provides year-round programming to make reading fun for children.

 

Museum Passport

The Kraft Great Kids initiative also includes the Museum Passport program. Adult residents of Chicago may use their Chicago Public Library card to check out free passes to visit one of 14 world-class Chicago museums. Participating museums are:

  • Adler Planetarium
  • Art Institute of Chicago
  • Brookfield Zoo
  • Chicago Botanic Garden
  • Chicago Children’s Museum
  • Chicago History Museum
  • DuSable Museum of African American History
  • The Field Museum
  • Lincoln Park Zoo
  • Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Museum of Science and Industry
  • National Museum of Mexican Art
  • The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
  • Shedd Aquarium

Monthly Family Night

From October to April, the Library partners with the Chicago Park District to provide Monthly Family Night literacy programs at 12 parks. The events feature a light dinner, stories, songs, games and crafts for children ages 6 to 12 and their families.

  • All children must attend with a parent or guardian.
  • All participants must register through the participating park.

Kidsmobile

In June, July and August, the Library and Park District bring the Summer Reading Program to 24 parks/playlots via the Kraft Great Kids Kidsmobile, which provides activities including crafts, sports, and of course, reading.

  • For children ages 3 to 14.
