May 2008
Join the Chicago Public Library in Celebrating Diversity in 2008 with its annual May observance of Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. For this celebration, which was established to recognize Asians and Pacific Islanders and their contributions to the United States, the Chicago Public Library will be offering a variety of programs throughout the month that highlight the Asian/Pacific American cultures. In the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month’s opening program on May 1st, special attention will be given to the music and dance of several Asian cultures. Other highlights for the month include karaoke events, origami activities, and book discussions. For more details about monthly events and Asian/Pacific American materials, including a bibliography of music and books, please see below.
