Summer Reads for Adults
The Chicago Public Library celebrates summertime with Summer Reads for Adults, its annual adult summer reading program presented in June and July. Past Summer Reads for Adults programs have celebrated music, art, Chicago history, the environment and Abraham Lincoln’s bicentennial.
Sharing its theme and focus with the Children’s Summer Reading Program, Summer Reads for Adults provides participants with the opportunity to:
- Explore a central theme through a wide variety of suggested readings
- Participate in related and inventive programming such as lectures, discussions and performances
- Learn more about the theme by exploring related content on the Chicago Public Library website.
Partnerships with other major Chicago cultural institutions help enliven and inform readings and programs.
So, when summer rolls around, grab your library card and head to your local library! Then use your time on the bus, at the beach or in your own backyard to read, learn and discover more about an interesting topic. We guarantee a breezy summer experience!
