Zena Sutherland Lecture
The Sutherland Lecture honors the late Zena Sutherland, professor emeritus and retired editor of the Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books. This annual event is co-sponsored by the Chicago Public Library, the Sutherland Lecture Committee and the University of Chicago.
The 31st annual Zena Sutherland Lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium on the lower level of the Harold Washington Library Center, 400 S. State Street. Details regarding registration and the lecture, to be presented by author Linda Sue Park, will be available on flyers at neighborhood libraries as well as on the Chicago Public Library website in April 2013.
Zena Sutherland was one of the best-known reviewers of children’s literature. Many of her works may be found within the Chicago Public Library collections, including the following noteworthy works:
