DESCRIPTION:<p>Please join us as author Janine MacLachlan discusses her new book titled <em>Farmers&rsquo; Markets of the Heartland</em>.<br><br><strong>Program Location: Reception Hall, lower level<br></strong><br>In this splendidly illustrated book, food writer and self-described farm groupie MacLachlan embarks on a tour of seasonal markets and farm stands throughout the Midwest.&nbsp; Sampling local flavors from Illinois and beyond,&nbsp; she met the growers, producers and artisans who bring fresh, nourishing food to local communities.&nbsp; MacLachlan&nbsp;also tantalizes with special recipes from farm-friendly chefs and dazzling photos.<br><br>Janine MacLachlan is a food writer and an advocate for a delicious and healthful food system.&nbsp; She has volunteered for Slow Food and Chicago&rsquo;s Green City Market, and blogs at <a href='http://rustickitchen.com/' title='Rustic Kitcken Blog'>RusticKitchen.com</a>.<br><br>Books will be available for purchase and Ms. MacLachlan will autograph books at the conclusion of the program.&nbsp; Reservations are not necessary and seating is available first come, first served.<br><br>This program is a <em>You Are What You Read: Summer Reads for Adults</em> program, made possible with support from the <a href='http://www.chicagopubliclibraryfoundation.org/' title='Chicago Public Library Foundation'>Chicago Public Library Foundation</a>.</p>
