G. Wells&rsquo; novel <em><a href='http://www.chipublib.org/search/details/cn/8420183' title='Dr. Moreau CPL Catalog Link'>The Island of Doctor Moreau</a>, </em>published in 1896.&nbsp; Charles Laughton is a mad doctor conducting ghastly genetic experiments on a remote island in the South Seas, much to the fear and disgust of the shipwrecked sailor who finds himself trapped there.&nbsp; This early horror classic illustrates that&nbsp;controversy surrounding medical ethics and&nbsp;research&nbsp;is a timeless theme.<br><br>It features Charles Laughton, Richard Arlen, Bela Lugosi, George Irving and Leila Hyams.
