DESCRIPTION:<strong>Dr. Daniela Rus</strong>, 2002 MacArthur Fellow, professor at MIT and leading expert in the field of robotics, envisions a world in which robots co-exist with and work side by side to support humans.&nbsp; These systems will be capable of carrying out tasks that are unachievable by conventional machines or even by humans working with conventional tools.<br><br>The next logical step in the evolution of computers and computation intelligence may be a movement from personal computers to personal robots.&nbsp; This robotics revolution will broaden the scope of robotics technologies from the predominantly industrial to increased automation in environments such as deep space and the underwater world.&nbsp; Dr. Rus will appear in conversation with <strong>Gabriel Spitzer</strong>, Science Reporter for WBEZ Chicago Public Radio.&nbsp; <em>Join us for a fascinating look at robotics and our future</em>!<br><br>The MacArthur Fellows Science Series is presented in partnership with <em>Science Chicago: Life's a Lab</em> and in collaboration with the Illinois Science Council.&nbsp; The series is made possible with generous support from the John D. and Catherine T.
