DESCRIPTION:Young baritone Martin Hughes, born in Chicago in 1989, is heard in a voice recital sponsored by opera singer and teacher Maria D'Albert.&nbsp; Hughes began private voice lessons at age 10 and, within a few years,&nbsp;performed in concert at such local venues as Sherwood Conservatory of Music and at Curtiss Hall in the Fine Arts Building.&nbsp;&nbsp;As a student at Lincoln Park High School, he received &ldquo;Honors Superior&rdquo; for his interpretation of English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams&rsquo; &ldquo;The Vagabond&rdquo; in 2004 and was chosen for the leading role, as &ldquo;Professor Harold Hill,&rdquo; in Meredith Willson&rsquo;s stage musical &ldquo;The Music Man&rdquo; in 2006.&nbsp; Hughes also was a member of the Lincoln Park Singers, the Lincoln Park Barbershop Quartet, and the Lincoln Park Madrigal Ensemble.&nbsp;&nbsp;Meanwhile, starting at age 6, he had started appearing in various TV commercials, including McDonald&rsquo;s and United Airlines, and joined the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA).&nbsp; In 2001, Hughes was in &ldquo;Stolen Summer,&rdquo; the finished film of the acclaimed HBO documentary series &ldquo;Project Greenlight.&rdquo;&nbsp; Presently he is pursuing an undergraduate degree at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, where he is focusing on music and voice education.
