About this event:
The first Hispanic and third woman appointed to the United States Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor has become an instant American icon. Now, with a candor and intimacy never undertaken by a sitting Justice, she recounts her life from a Bronx housing project to the U.S. Supreme Court in My Beloved World. The journey recounted in this memoir offers testament to her own extraordinary determination and the power of believing in oneself.
Justice Sotomayor appears in the Winter Garden, located on the 9th floor. Seating is available when the Winter Garden opens at 4:30 p.m. Guests arriving prior to 4:30 p.m. will line up in the first floor Congress Corridor, where free tickets will be available beginning at 4 p.m., first come, first served and one ticket per person. When the 500-seat Winter Garden fills, guests will be seated in the ninth floor South Hall, a 200-seat overflow space into which the event will be streamed live. Justice Sotomayor’s book will be available for purchase and she will only autograph copies of My Beloved World at the conclusion of the program. No other memorabilia or items will be autographed. Photography and recording devices are not allowed.
