Can lightning strike in the same place twice? Ruth and Simon Pierce's 10 year old daughter, Heather, disappears on a holiday in Cornwall with a friend's family. She is found dead at the bottom of a cliff. Simon and Ruth divorce; Ruth remarries and builds a new life. Now, her 10 year old daughter, Beatrice, has disappeared on the way home from school.
