About this event:
E.J. Dionne, long-time columnist for the Washington Post, and regular commentator on NPR, MSNBC and “Meet the Press' discusses and signs his new book, Our Divided Political Heart.
Our Divided Political Heart is an argument about politics, but also an argument about American history: we can’t agree about who we are because we can’t agree about who we’ve been. The American political tradition, and each of us, are torn by a tension between our love of individualism and our affection for community. Going back to the founding, Dionne argues that the Tea Party and various forms of radical individualism misread our story by denying this tension and also ignoring the central role government has played in our development from the very beginning.
Dionne is the author of several other books, including Red, Blue, and Purple America: The Future of Election Demographics and Souled Out: Reclaiming Faith and Politics After the Religious Right.
Books by E. J. Dionne are available for purchase at this event. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Registration is not required.
