About this event:
For the sixth consecutive year, the Poetry Fest is pleased to host the finalist reading and award presentation of the Poetry Center's Juried Reading.  The competition is open to all poets residing in Illinois and its neighboring states, and contestants should be unpublished or have published no more than one full-length book of poetry, not including self-published books.

All submissions are blind-judged.  The first place prize is $1500, second place is $500, third place is $250, and $50 goes to each of the remaining five finalists.  The final judge for the 2008 Juried Reading is E. Ethelbert Miller.  An award-winning poet and literary activist, Miller is also the editor of Poet Lore Magazine.
