About this event:
Independent dance artist Anjal Chande of Soham Dance Space presents a performance and lecture discussing abhinaya, the art of expressional dance-drama. From the practical tools used to convey meaning – the face, hand gestures, and body language – to the lyrics, music, and specific stories being conveyed, abhinaya brings the audience toward a sentiment or experience, deep and uplifting, known as rasa. From the perspective of bharatanatyam dance, Anjal will discuss the elements of abhinaya and consider the effectiveness of this style of creative communication in connecting with audiences.
