About this event:
Thirteen and fourteen year old Chicago youths present an energetic percussion and dance program under the direction of STONE, one of Chicago’s multi-disciplinary percussionists, founder and director of the band Ulele; and Kathleen Maltese, who is an interdisciplinary artist working with movement, story telling and visual arts. The inspiration for the show is the work of “Stomp”, that is, movement and stories accompanied by music composed by the group, using non-traditional instruments and the voice. Brooms, large water bottles, pipes, newspapers, hubcaps along with other fun ideas for making sound will be the basis of a high energy, engaging show. After the performance, the group will engage the audience in creativity of the same sort.
