About this event:
The Chicago Public Library and the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission present a unique look at how the stories we tell shape history and how history shapes our stories, with Henry Louis 'Skip' Gates, Jr. in conversation with Rick Kogan.
Who could better bring this conversation to 'the Land of Lincoln' than Gates? Through several books and PBS specials—most recently Looking for Lincoln—he has encouraged people from all walks of life to explore their unique personal stories and the impact of those stories on our national history. With renowned author and journalist Rick Kogan weaving tales of Chicago into the conversation, this promises to be an entertaining and enlightening meeting of minds. Plus, you are invited to get in on the conversation! This program is part of the Chicago Public Library’s Land of Lincoln Readers: Summer Reads for Adults.
