About this event:
Harmonica wizard - singer - songwriter Matthew Skoller, one of the upper echelon of today's young Chicago blues artists, talks about his life and career, and with his group, The Matthew Skoller Band, performs live examples of their engaging music. Skoller moved to Chicago in 1987 and formed his own fiery blues band in 1992. While his playing sprang from the tradition of blues pioneers such as Little Walter and Muddy Waters, Skoller was also influenced by rock and roll stars including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, and The Allman Brothers. Ultimately, Skoller's take on the blues is about letting his own high-energy sound and voice come through, reflecting his culture and experiences. His band's website is matthewskoller.com.
