About this event:
The Chicago Public Library welcomes back award-winning author Julia Alvarez to read from, discuss and sign Return to Sender, her new book for young adults.

Return to Sender is the story of a young boy, Tyler, whose family hires Mexican migrant workers to work on their Vermont farm.  Tyler has many questions about this family, especially the oldest daughter Mari, who is proud of her Mexican heritage but increasingly connected to her American life.  Can Tyler and Mari find a way to be friends despite their differences?

Ms. Alvarez is the author of several acclaimed novels for young readers, including How Tia Lola Came to Visit.  Her books for adults include the Fall 2004 One Book, One Chicago selection, In The Time of the Butterflies.  Books will be available for purchase at the event from Magic Tree Bookstore.
