Focus of this talk is migration in the wake of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, including land development and growth of the black population on the West Side.
Beverly A. Cook, assistant curator of the Chicago Public Library's Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection, leads several presentations on various black communities in Chicago, and those communities’ connections to the Great Migration. Presented as part of the current One Book, One Chicago program.
