Literary Salon: An afternoon with Heiko Julien
Date: Sat. January 25, 2014
Time: 2:00 pm
About this event:
The Edgewater Branch's monthly literary salon will kick off in January of 2014 by hosting Heiko Julien, a Chicago-based Alt Lit author and love poet whose first book, I Am Ready to Die a Violent Death, was published in November of 2013. In the words of DazedDigital.com's Karl Smith, 'Heiko Julien occupies an interesting, ambivalent venn diagramatic space in the (alt)literary world . . . Weaving together poetry and prose, conscience and disconnect, even apathy, on personal and social levels, Julien's book (playfully titled I am Ready to Die a Violent Death, encapsulating the whole project from the off) is a collection of sometimes witty, sometimes moving observations and juxtapositions.'
Following some live readings delivered by fellow Alt Lit writers, Heiko Julien will talk about the context of his work and will share some of his writing with the audience. Copies of I Am Ready to Die a Violent Death will be available for signing and sale after the event.
