About this event:
Please join us for this special CityVerse poetry writing workshop with local poet cin salach. The theme is migration: Why do we go from here to there? What part of our nature calls us, drives us, leads us from the home we know? Safety, peace, food, spirituality, family, survival, desire, love….
cin salach has collaborated with musicians, video artists, dancers and photographers for over 25 years in such groups as The Loofah Method, Betty’s Mouth and ten tongues with whom she recorded the CD, A Wide Arc. Her first book, Looking for a Soft Place to Land, was published by Tia Chucha Press. Her next book, When I am Yes will be published this December by Jackleg Press.
Illinois Arts Council recipient and four-time Ragdale fellow, cin is co-founder, with the Chicago Park District and the Children’s Humanities Festival, of the award-winning Words@Play, an after-school children’s poetry program. cin lives in Andersonville with her son, Leo. Her love of poetry, and her belief that it can change lives, has led her to create her new business, poemgrown, helping people mark the most important occasions in their lives with poetry.
