Join us at the Art Institute for a gallery talk looking at paintings by Monet, Renoir, Degas and others, focusing on how they reflect the scientific and technological aspects of the day: new ideas of optics and theories of perception, innovations in the manufacture and diffusion of the materials of painting, and the greater ease and convenience of travel made possible by modern transportation.
