Please join us as we explore Before We Were Free by Julia Alvarez through lively discussion, engaging activities, and a welcoming community spirit.  Recommended for grades 6 & up.

Each Nuestros Libros Para Todos event unites Chicago families in celebration of award-winning literature written by Latino/a authors.  All families wishing to share their love of literacy, libraries, and lifelong learning are welcome to attend these book club events with a special focus on Latino heritage and culture.

A joint project of Chicago Public Library's Theodore Roosevelt Branch and the Latino Parents Network, Nuestros Libros Para Todos is a year-long celebration of El Dia de los Ninos/El Dia de Los Libros, 'a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds.' (American Library Association)
