About this event:
Columbia College Chicago Fiction Writing Department presents 17th Annual Story Week Festival of Writers programs in partnership with the Chicago Public Library.
Join us as bestselling author Sapphire converses with Alexis Pride, novelist and Director of Graduate Programs at Columbia College Chicago, to discuss and sign copies of her novel Push. Push tells the story of an illiterate, brutalized Harlem teenager, won numerous literary awards and was the source for the noted 2009 movie Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire.
Famed in the worlds of literature, poetry and literacy--and an extraordinary public speaker--Sapphire is first and foremost a poet and performer. She is the author of American Dreams, cited by Publisher's Weekly as 'One of the strongest debut collections of the nineties;' and Black Wings & Blind Angels, of which Poets & Writers declared, 'With her soul on the line in each verse, her latest collection retains Sapphire's incendiary power to win hearts and singe minds.'
Seating is in the Cindy Pritzker Auditorium and available first come, first served. Reservations are not required. Books are available for purchase at this event. Sapphire will autograph books at the conclusion of the program. For additional information please visit Story Week Festival of Writers.
