West Pullman
About this Library
Historically, this is the first Chicago Public Library branch serving the West Pullman community.
Uniquely, West Pullman Branch is the repository of removal-action documents regarding Dutch Boy paint factory site, International Harvester, former West Pullman Works, and Ingersoll; generated by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Bureau of Land Remedial Project Management and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
West Pullman Branch served its first patron on July 14, 2005 and was dedicated on July 16, 2005. In honor of the Pullman Porters and A. Philip Randolph, for opening day, an exhibit was prepared depicting the historical significance of the Pullman Porters and Mr. Randolph. Items for the exhibit were loaned to the branch by the A. Philip Randolph Pullman Porter Museum.
