Midwest
About this Library
The Midwest Branch opened February 1973 in a storefront. Library service was previously offered by a bookmobile at Chicago and Western Avenue.
The immediate community has a large Polish and Ukrainian population and a growing Hispanic population. All three languages are reflected in book collections in these languages. The Midwest Branch is the only Chicago Public Library Branch (other than the central library) to have books in Ukrainian. In addition, most current books published in English that relate to the Ukraine are selected for the book collection.
