Marshall Square
About this Library
Marshall Square Branch moved to its present storefront location in February 1991. The previous branch opened in a storefront in December 1972 at 2860 West Cermak Road. It replaced bookmobile services. Marshall Square refers to the area near the rectangle formed by Cermak Road, California Avenue, Marshall Boulevard, and 24th Boulevard. James A. Marshall, for whom the boulevard was named, came to Chicago in 1832, opened a dancing school, and served as secretary of the Chicago Real Estate Board.
