Fifth Floor North

PERIODICALS & MICROFORMS

The Winner, a painted quilt on the 5th floor of HWLC
  7 of 12

The periodicals and microforms on this floor augment the sixth floor Social Science and History collection. Located next to the elevators, there is The Winner, a painted quilt by noted children's book illustrator Faith Ringgold, showing a race in progress with runners crossing a bridge.

As you approach the elevators, turn toward your right. The Talking Book Center provides more than 53,000 cassettes, recorded and Braille books to eligible patrons. Any person who, because of a visual or physical disability, experiences difficulty reading standard print, holding a book, or turning a page is eligible for service. A Computer Reader in this department converts written symbols to sound for people who are visually or reading impaired. The Talking Book Center provides applications upon request.
