Find a variety of books on genealogy, including titles on ethnic resources, Chicago and county histories, and beginning to advanced genealogical research. Additional resources are available in HeritageQuest Online, which features more than 28,000 volumes of printable family and local histories.

Newspapers, Magazines and Journals (Periodicals)

Social Science and History carries a wide variety of newspapers, magazines and journals. Current, bound and microform volumes are shelved on the fifth floor, and corresponding indexes and abstracts are on the sixth floor. Find an online magazine or newspaper by title. Teacher Resource Center

A wide range of activity-based resources and titles offer curriculum support. This collection assists teachers, administrators, students and others interested in creating lesson plans and the practice of teaching. Additional resources are available via ERIC.

Travel, Maps and Atlases

Find an extensive collection of current travel guides such as Fodor’s, Frommer’s and Michelin. In addition, books describing cities, countries, ancient civilizations and archaeology help the traveler prepare for a trip. Reference atlases and maps provide additional resources.
