Richard J. Daley
About this Library
Richard J. Daley Branch was dedicated on February 1, 1989, replacing the Bridgeport Branch, a small storefront that began library service on May 12, 1966 at 824 West 35th Street. The branch is named in honor of the late Mayor of Chicago, who was a lifelong resident of the Bridgeport community. Richard J. Daley served 6 terms as mayor of Chicago, from April 20, 1955 until he died in office on December 20, 1976.
